1. Overview
SnapRoomScore is a free, browser-based noise measurement website. It has no user accounts and no server-side database. Your microphone audio and measurement results stay on your device. The website does, however, use third-party services from Google — Google Analytics, Google AdSense and Google Fonts — which can process technical data such as your IP address, browser information and cookie identifiers. This policy explains what is processed, by whom, and how you can control it.
2. Microphone Audio
The microphone is only used after you press a Start button and grant permission in your browser. Audio is analysed locally in your browser with the Web Audio API to estimate the sound level. Raw audio is held only in a short, continuously overwritten memory buffer. No audio is recorded, saved, uploaded or shared, and the microphone stream stops when you stop the measurement or close the page.
3. Data Stored Locally in Your Browser
SnapRoomScore stores a small amount of data in your browser's localStorage, which only this website can read:
- Measurement summaries: average, peak and minimum level estimates, duration and timestamps (no audio).
- Badges and streaks: achievements and streak counters.
- Classroom monitor settings: sensitivity and threshold choices on that device.
This data is not sent to us. You can delete it at any time by clearing this website's site data in your browser settings. We keep no copies.
4. Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how the website is used — for example page views, device category, browser type, approximate country and clicks on links to the measurement tool. Analytics never receives audio, microphone input, decibel readings or your measurement history.
Google Consent Mode v2 is set to "denied" by default. Analytics cookies are only set if consent for analytics storage has been granted. Without that consent, Google may still receive limited cookieless signals (such as the fact that a page was loaded) as described in Google's Consent Mode documentation.
5. Advertising (Google AdSense)
SnapRoomScore uses Google AdSense, an advertising service provided by Google, to show ads that help cover the cost of running the website. Google and its partners may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to serve ads, limit how often you see them, measure their performance and detect fraud.
Where you consent, Google may show personalised ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Without that consent, Google may show non-personalised or limited ads, which still use technologies for frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud prevention. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits.

6. Consent and Your Privacy Choices
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown Google's consent message (a Google-certified consent management platform) where they can accept, reject or manage consent for advertising and analytics purposes. Your choices are passed to Google services through Consent Mode.
You can review or change your choice at any time with the link in the footer. If no consent message is available in your region, you can control cookies through your browser settings and Google's Ad Settings. Details are in our Cookie Policy.
7. Other Technical Data
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google servers, which receive your IP address and browser information. Like any website, our hosting provider may process standard technical request data (such as IP address and requested page) to deliver and secure the site.
If you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message and use them only to reply.
8. Sharing and Selling of Data
We do not sell your personal data. Data is shared only with the Google services described above, which process it under Google's Privacy Policy. Google may process data outside your country, including in the United States.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EEA and UK), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Because we do not store accounts or measurement data on servers, most data related to your use of SnapRoomScore is either on your own device (which you can delete) or held by Google. For data held by Google, use your Google privacy settings or contact Google. For anything else, contact us using the address below.
10. Children's Privacy
SnapRoomScore has no registration and does not ask for names or contact details. The classroom monitor does not collect any student information. Advertising and analytics are provided by Google under the consent choices described above.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when the website or legal requirements change. The "Last updated" date above shows when it was last revised.
