1. Overview
SnapRoomScore is built around a simple privacy principle: your data stays on your device. The application does not require user accounts, does not operate a server-side database, and does not transmit audio or personal data to external servers. This policy explains how the limited data generated while using the application is handled.
2. Audio Processing
When you grant microphone permission, your device's audio input is processed locally within your browser using the Web Audio API. SnapRoomScore analyzes the incoming signal through an AnalyserNode, which calculates the root-mean-square amplitude of short audio frames to estimate the current sound level in decibels.
Raw audio samples are processed only in a temporary memory buffer that is continuously overwritten. No audio recordings are saved, stored, or transmitted. The audio stream is immediately terminated when you stop the measurement or close the page.
3. Data Stored Locally in Your Browser
SnapRoomScore stores limited information in your browser's localStorage. This storage area is sandboxed and accessible only by this website.
The stored data may include:
- Session summaries: average, peak, and minimum decibel values, measurement duration, and timestamps. No audio data is stored.
- Badge and streak information: earned achievements and streak counters used for the gamification features.
- Cookie consent preference: whether optional analytics cookies were accepted or declined.
This data never leaves your device. You can remove it at any time by clearing the site data in your browser settings. Once deleted, the data cannot be recovered because SnapRoomScore does not maintain server-side copies.
4. Optional Analytics
If you choose to accept analytics cookies through the consent banner, anonymized usage data may be collected through Google Analytics 4. This may include information such as page views, device category, browser type, and general interaction events.
Analytics data never includes:
- Audio recordings
- Microphone input
- Decibel measurements
- Session history
- Personally identifiable information
If you select "Necessary Only," analytics scripts are not activated and no analytics data is transmitted.

5. Third-Party Services
SnapRoomScore does not integrate with third-party services that process personal user data. The only external service that may be used is Google Analytics, and only if analytics consent has been granted.
The website does not use:
- Advertising networks
- Social media tracking pixels
- Behavioral tracking tools
- Customer data platforms
- External A/B testing services
6. GDPR and Data Subject Rights
Because SnapRoomScore does not collect or store personal data on external servers, traditional GDPR data subject requests operate differently than with cloud-based services.
All data generated during use of the application remains under your direct control in your browser. If you wish to erase stored data, you can do so by clearing the website's storage in your browser settings.
Since no personal data is stored or processed by SnapRoomScore servers, there is no external dataset to access, modify, or delete.
7. Children's Privacy
SnapRoomScore is designed to be safe for users of all ages. The application does not request, collect, or store personal information such as names, email addresses, location data, or device identifiers.
There is no registration system and no mechanism through which users — including children — can submit personal data through the application.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements to the website or changes in legal requirements. When updates occur, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
If a future update introduces any form of personal data collection, this change will be clearly communicated through the website and consent banner before taking effect.
