1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using SnapRoomScore (the "Application"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, you should not use the Application. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or interact with SnapRoomScore.
2. Description of the Service
SnapRoomScore is a free, browser-based Progressive Web Application designed to estimate ambient sound levels using your device's built-in microphone. The Application provides real-time decibel estimates, noise level classifications, environmental tips, local measurement history, and optional gamification features such as badges and streaks.
All sound analysis and calculations occur locally within your browser. SnapRoomScore does not operate a server-side infrastructure for processing or storing measurement data.
3. Measurement Accuracy Disclaimer
The sound level readings provided by SnapRoomScore are approximate estimates derived from consumer device microphones that are not calibrated for professional measurement purposes.
Accuracy may vary depending on device model, microphone quality, environmental conditions, and microphone placement. Typical variation is ±3–5 dB compared to calibrated professional sound level meters within the 45–85 dB range, with larger deviations below 35 dB and above 95 dB.
SnapRoomScore is not a certified sound level meter and must not be used as a substitute for professional acoustic measurements, occupational safety assessments, regulatory compliance (including OSHA or the EU Noise Directive 2003/10/EC), building inspections, legal noise disputes, or medical evaluation of hearing exposure.
Any reliance on measurements generated by the Application is at your own risk.
4. Limitation of Liability
SnapRoomScore is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. This includes, but is not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developers and operators of SnapRoomScore shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Application.
This includes any damages resulting from reliance on noise measurements for health, safety, legal, or regulatory decisions.
5. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of SnapRoomScore complies with all applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations.
You agree not to use the Application for any unlawful or prohibited purpose.
Microphone access is managed by your browser and operating system. You may grant or revoke microphone permission at any time through your device or browser settings.
6. Intellectual Property
All design elements, branding, content, source code, and documentation associated with SnapRoomScore are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You are free to share or publish your personal measurement results generated by the Application.
However, you may not reproduce, distribute, modify, reverse engineer, create derivative works from, or commercially exploit the Application or its underlying code without prior written permission.
7. Privacy
SnapRoomScore's data handling practices are described in our Privacy Policy.
By using the Application, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy. In summary, SnapRoomScore does not record or transmit microphone audio, does not collect personal information, and stores measurement data only locally within your browser.
8. Service Availability
SnapRoomScore is provided as a free service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Application at any time without prior notice.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or compatibility with all devices, browsers, or operating systems.
The Application requires a device with microphone support and a browser that implements the Web Audio API.
9. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms of Use at any time. When changes are made, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
Your continued use of SnapRoomScore after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
